Emotional intelligence training designed to improve your emotional self-awareness and well-being and enhance your abilities to engage, read, understand and influence others to achieve your goals.

This emotional intelligence training programme will give you the tools, techniques, and approaches to become the master of your emotions and ensure that they are working for you, and not against you. You will develop your knowledge of what emotional intelligence (EI) is and use this platform to build your personal EI abilities and enhance your skills in reading and interacting with others.

As an attendee of this Emotional Intelligence training, you will learn to:

  • Maintain focus and control during difficult conversations
  • Increase your likability and help you to win friends and build relationships

Objectives:

On completion of this Module you will be better able to:

  • Understand how emotions work
  • Know about the universal emotional triggers and how to manage them
  • Be aware of emotional impulses and how they grab us from the outset
  • Respond to emotionally charged situations, rather than react impulsively towards them
  • Read emotions in others through their verbal and non-verbal behaviour
  • Understand the emotions of others more intimately
  • Use your new skills to improve your well-being and meet the goals of your interactions with others.

Course content:

Emotional intelligence (EI) is defined as “the ability to perceive, understand and influence our own and others’ emotions, across a range of contexts, to guide our current thinking and actions, to help us to achieve our goals” (Lansley, 2020). This Module is focused on the pioneering EmotionIntell EI model associated with this definition:

Syllabus

This three-day event is focused on Applied Emotional Intelligence and delivered 100% online by the Emotional Intelligence Academy team. It is structured into 9 x 90-minute sessions over the three days with tactical breaks to help keep you engaged and fresh. The sessions will incorporate the following learning phases:

  • Introduction
  • What is Emotional Intelligence(EI)?
  • A quick review of the evolution of EI – the myths, the models and the challenges
  • The science and power of emotions
  • Emotion timeline
  • EI conversations (with self and others) and the 7 stages towards successful EI interactions
  • Awareness of emotions in self and others
  • Six-channel communications (SCAnS) to help us go beyond the words
  • Emotional triggers
  • (homework on hot triggers)
  • Recognising our own emotional state and the emotion/cognition/physical resources triad
  • Self-management strategies – this does not always mean suppression of our emotions
  • Individual differences – it’s not all about you
  • Communication and personal styles
  • Managing interactions with others
  • (homework on interaction scenario)
  • Attentiveness and mindfulness – stabilising our platform
  • Mindset
  • Reframing
  • Scenario development/practice
  • Antidotes, tips and techniques for managing emotionally charged situations
  • Open forum.
