This two-day program is centered on cutting edge behavioral science and will prepare you with the knowledge, understanding, skills, and application of emotional competencies. The course is designed to help you become aware of, and manage the emotions of those around you, and master your own emotions (before they get you into any trouble!),

 

Based on Dr Ekman’s research and world class training methodology, you will work through the emotional timeline from trigger… to impulse… to action to understand the challenges and skills around emotional awareness and then learn powerful techniques to overcome these challenges and increase your emotional competence.  

 

This course will develop your people reading skills and enable you to see and hear true emotions in others – A vital skill for developing and maintaining successful, and meaningful relationships.
During this training, you will learn how to read the verbal and nonverbal behaviors of others. This will include the decoding of facial expressions, plus the other four key communication channels that tell us what others are really thinking and feeling. These are, a person’s Body Language, their Voice, the Verbal Communication Style, and the Verbal content or the words they use.You will practice and hone your new skills in a safe environment with a Paul Ekman International Approved Trainer.

Who is Paul Ekman?

Dr. Paul Ekman is one of the worlds leading researchers within the fields of communication, emotion, and deception. He was the first person to scientifically prove the existence of seven universal (displayed exactly the same in every person) facial expressions of emotion as previously suggested by Charles Darwin. These seven universal expressions are – Happiness, Disgust, Contempt, Surprise, Anger, Sadness, and Fear.

With over 40 years of research behind him, Dr. Ekman is regarded as one of the most influential and important scientists in the world, and you can see his work being utilized by Disney Pixar, The Department of Homeland Security, Health Service, Apple, and Emirates Airlines.

Can you really learn to read emotions in others?

Yes! By learning how to evaluate verbal and nonverbal behaviors in others, you can become incredibly accurate in understanding the thoughts and feelings of others. On this course, you will learn how to analyze a persons – Body language, facial expressions, verbal content (the words they use), Verbal style (how they speak), and their voice. By observing these multiple communication channels, you will be able to extract more information from those you interact with and gain a deeper insight into their emotional state.
