Who is Paul Ekman?
Dr. Paul Ekman is one of the worlds leading researchers within the fields of communication, emotion, and deception. He was the first person to scientifically prove the existence of seven universal (displayed exactly the same in every person) facial expressions of emotion as previously suggested by Charles Darwin. These seven universal expressions are – Happiness, Disgust, Contempt, Surprise, Anger, Sadness, and Fear.
With over 40 years of research behind him, Dr. Ekman is regarded as one of the most influential and important scientists in the world, and you can see his work being utilized by Disney Pixar, The Department of Homeland Security, Health Service, Apple, and Emirates Airlines.
Can you really learn to read emotions in others?
Yes! By learning how to evaluate verbal and nonverbal behaviors in others, you can become incredibly accurate in understanding the thoughts and feelings of others. On this course, you will learn how to analyze a persons – Body language, facial expressions, verbal content (the words they use), Verbal style (how they speak), and their voice. By observing these multiple communication channels, you will be able to extract more information from those you interact with and gain a deeper insight into their emotional state.
