Abstract
The Emotional Intelligence research literature is diverse, complex and often controversial when
considering the absence of an agreed taxonomy for use in defining emotional intelligence and even more
so in agreeing the methodology adopted to assess people against it. This paper outlines the results of a
research questionnaire that draws on the opinions of 43 subject matter experts.
This paper will confine itself to those areas where there was agreement at a 70%+ level. It is suggested that
this high threshold will provide a reliable dataset to inform continued research and debate in this field.
